Sadie and I had a conversation at lunch today about "tummies". Sadie was pointing out the different sizes of our bellies. She told me that my tummy keeps getting big and little again. I asked her if it was little yet and (bless her heart) she told me it was little. I asked her if hers was big or little. She said "Its a little bigger. I need to get it little like this (pushing her tummy in as far as she could) because that's how Ariel's tummy is."
Scary! First off, Sadie is already toothpick skinny. She can barely keep her paints up - even the slim fit ones. Secondly, don't you think Ariel almost looks a little anorexic in "The Little Mermaid"?!
Sadie seems to bring up the size of her tummy pretty often so I hope she doesn't get too obsessed with it. I thought this wouldn't be something I would have to worry about until she was much older!

I know what you mean. Ryli saw a picture of herself on my screen saver that had been stretched wider to fit the screen and she said, "Whoa, I look a little fat." Not too big of a deal but should kids that age even be aware of fat and skinny or body image like that? We have to be super careful what we, as their Moms, say about our own bodies in front of them. That is hard.
It is so true. Lan is always asking how many calories something is before he eats it. Although he doesn't really know what calories are he hears me talk about it and then thinks that is something he needs to be worrying about.
