Snowy Weekend Trip to Tahoe

One of Jason's clients had a Cabin at Tahoe that she wanted work done so we were able to stay there for the weekend last week while Jason worked on getting an estimate for the work to be done. The cabin was super nice (they had nicer things in their vacation home than I have at my own home!) Besides the super nice bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen, it had a huge family room with fireplace and big TV, DVD player and game system, and another big room downstairs with Pool table, air hockey, Foosball, and outside was a hot tub. But the trip up there was a nightmare! It was a 3 hour drive made into 8 because the road conditions were bad and there was so much traffic on Hwy 80. Miserable! At least we had a good time once we got there to make up for it!

Our little man is TWO!

Braden turned two on Friday! He woke up to us all telling him "Happy Birthday!" After that he kept saying, "Happy Bir-day, Braden!" over and over. He was pretty excited about it.

For lunch I took him to Chuck-E Cheese and we met up with the Alvies and the Roberts there. Braden loves pizza and I thought it would be something fun that he doesn't get to do very often. It was Braden's friend Cade's Birthday too so they had their Birthday lunch together. Braden and Cade were born at the same hospital on the same day! The boys didn't eat much before they were ready to ride on the "glorified WalMart rides" they have at Chuck-E-Cheese. Braden's favorite ride - The Monster truck. Surprised?
Sadie takes the wheel and Braden holds on for his life!

Later that evening, (after a good nap) the four of us enjoy a fancy dinner that consisted of Mac'n'Cheese, sloppy joes, and salad. I know what you are thinking - "Man, these guys know how to throw a party!" Whoever's birthday comes up next, its gonna be hard to beat this one, right? So, anyway, next we brought out the B-day cake and Braden was so excited. Can you guess what the first thing he did was? Yep, touch the flame on the candles. Thus the not so excited picture below. :(
After that, he was pretty cautious about the cake so Sadie had to help him with his candles.
Now the famous "Crest toothpaste commercial smile" is back.

This is one of the only times Braden refused to eat his food with anything but his fork. Usually he thinks the fork is just a waste of time, but apparently he wasn't taking any more chances with this cake after the finger burn earlier.

Braden got some "Cars" movie cars to play with and the Grand Central Station of the Geo-Traks train set. They were a big hit! The cars even ended up in bed with Braden. Who needs a cuddly teddy bear when you can hug your cars at night!

Culinary Presentation

I was asked to do a presentation for YW yesterday and it a good chance to review some of the things I did at school. I decided to teach them a little bit about food presentation. I thought that would be interesting to them and I think they did enjoy learning a little bit about it. I didn't think about taking pictures of the things I went over with them until now so some of the food doesn't look as good in the pictures as it did yesterday when we did it.

Some of the vegetable garnishes I taught them how to make. Above is a chili flower, green onion brush, carrot freesia, and a radish rose - garnishes for different plates of food.

I also made some deserts and some sauces (vanilla, chocolate and strawberry) to show them how to "do up" a dessert plate. The brownie is missing its strawberry on top. The cheesecake looks like someone took a bite out of the end.

I think Jason is jealous that I don't go through all that trouble for our meals at home. Right now I am all about keeping things simple and fast so I can worry about other things. Oh, well. Someday, right?

My Neices are here!

My sister-in-law had her babies at 3 o'clock this morning! It was a 2 in 1 - One labor, two babies! I cant imagine how much that must take out of you though. I am so excited to have little Webb neices. They are pretty big, one is 5 lbs 12 oz and the other is 5 lbs 3 oz. I guess the 2nd one (the lighter one) is 20 inches long! Long and skinny. Not sure what the other one's length was yet.

We are healthy again!

Yay! Sadie and Braden are happy and healthy again. Aren't they so cute? I'm not sure how I got such cute kids, I guess I just got lucky. Sometimes I forget what a blessing it is to be healthy, but then I am reminded that it isn't something to take for granted. I remember when my brother Brigham was diagnosed with cancer, he was about the age Braden is now. My parents spent a lot of time in the hospital with him for the next year after the diagnosis until they finally were able to remove the tumor and he recovered from surgeries and chemotherapy. I am so grateful that we haven't had any major health problems like that and I hope we can get this new little one without any complications as well.
Jason is doing much better too, now that he got a root canal on a tooth that was infected. I don't know why he has so many teeth issues at his age! He was just eating ice cream the other day when his tooth just broke. He thought it was one that had a crown on it but it wasn't. Weird. So he gets a crown on it next week. Which is why you can see from my earlier post that "get Dental Insurance" was on my "To Do" List.

I am not a big fan of the pregnant belly shots, but since a lot of my family has never seen me with a pregnant "bump" I decided to post one. Here I am at 26.5 weeks. Sadie took this picture for me. :) It was the first time I let her use my camera so it did take a couple tries to get a shot that actually had me in the picture. ;)

Excuse me, are you 18 yet?

Are you kidding me? That's what I was asked when I went to JC Penny today for the Grand Opening by one of the guys trying sign up people on JC Penny credit cards. I get questions like that from strangers all the time! I've even been given a lecture about teenage pregnancy from someone that assumed I was a teen. I'm told that it is a complement when people think you are younger, but I don't think so. Especially when I am visibly pregnant and toting around a 2 year old and 4 year old that call me "mom". That would make me 14 when I had Sadie if I was 18 now.

I'm hoping someday I can at least get past 18!

Oh to have uninterrupted sleep once again...

Sadie and Braden have caught another bug. It seems someone gets sick a couple times a month in this house. Sadie came down with a fever on Friday, Braden's fever started Sunday. But Sadie must have pneumonia along with it, she has been breathing very fast and heavy and has a horrible cough. Because she is so skinny, she gets frail very easily and it is even harder than normal to get her to eat and drink.
Sleeping is somewhat of a luxury for me, especially lately. Checking temperatures and administering medicines throughout the night, calming upset children and trying to make sure Jason gets his sleep so that he isn't too tired to get his work done. I remember when I was the only person I had to worry about and I slept when and how long I wanted.....
And now as I come to 100 days of pregnancy left, I realize this is only the beginning. I am starting to get to the part when sleeping isn't comfortable and I have to go to the bathroom a couple times a night. And then there will be night time feedings for the new baby. I hope I cut it as a mother to 3! Hopefully Sadie decides sleeping in her own bed is a good idea and Braden stops waking up during the night looking for his sippy cup and blankie.
