Memorable Weekend!

We spent Memorial Day weekend at Anchor Bay this year.  We brought up our bikes and bike trailer to go on some bike rides while we were there.  Jason had to get a new bike since his old one was stolen out of our friends garage when they borrowed it last year.  Braden's bike was also stolen recently so he didn't have one to ride and he was on his scooter this time.

Sadie had been wanting to take the training wheels off her bike ever since Braden learned to ride earlier this year but because I never had the right tools (You would think being married to a contractor we would have!) and because I was actually worried that she wasn't ready, we hadn't done it.  Since we had the tools and the time we took the opportunity to teach her to ride while we were at Anchor Bay!  She caught on super fast!  Only 2 or 3 times of running with her before she did it on her own!  I guess we probably could have tried a lot sooner!

The next day we went on another bike trip and we were nervous about Sadie doing the whole trip without training wheels because she still needed to be pushed off and we thought we would have to stop too frequently, but it turned out it was good practice for her to learn to do it herself since we were all on our own bikes and couldn't help her as much.

Braden did awesome on his scooter too, keeping the head of the pack the whole time, down hill and up, about 2 miles!  He has very good balance and can maneuver it really well!

Mackenzie rode in the cart and was pretty content most of the time.  While we were riding I heard a newborn baby mouse in the field next to us and found it for her to look at (we didn't touch!)  The poor thing was crying because the mommy left it and the ants were attacking it.  It was braking Mackenzie and Braden's little hearts and they wanted to take it home.  (We didn't!)

We spent some time at the beach as well, the weather was really nice!

My 3 cuties

The kids got good and wet and sandy trying to make sand castles and getting buried in the sand.

I told Sadie she looked like the "Little Mermaid" so she immediately struck a pose!    Silly cutie!

Mackenzie seemed to be a little worried about the sand so I thought she needed a little sand initiation.

I buried her in the sand and she was not happy about that!

Next Braden asked to be buried and Mackenzie helped.  He was having fun so she thought maybe it wasn't so bad...

And wanted to be buried with Sadie next!

She was loving it this time!  Braden was such a nice brother and helped to pull her out.

While we played on the beach, Jason dove every day and brought back some yummy abalones for us as well.

Since then we have been back 2 more times before we had to take our trailer out of the site there for the summer.

Sadie and Braden had their first experience making their own smores around the campfire.

Mackenzie had her first real experience of the tide pools.  Braden and Mackenzie were not too excited about this crab Jason was showing them!

Sadie is our beach explorer, she loves finding and holding the crabs, starfish, ext.  Last time Jason even found a baby eel for her to hold/touch!

We will miss Anchor Bay but looking forward to some time on the lakes this summer too!
