Sadie's school had field trips for kindergarten for a whole week while the older kids did testing. Braden, Mackenzie and I went with her for 2 of the days. It was fun watching her interact with her classmates and spend more time with her during the day! One of the days we went to Winco for a tour. We shop there all the time so I wasn't too excited about it, but it actually turned out to be really interesting and fun for the kids. They showed the kids around the store and the back where they receive new shipments. They walked into the back of a big rig trailer, watched a fork lift in action (Braden was in awe), went into the huge refrigerator and freezer areas, learned about the bakery ovens and equipment, went into the offices upstairs at the front of the store, etc. The best part was the touch stations (with gloves) and tasting stations they set up around the store! The seafood station had squid, whole fish, lobster and mussels to touch.
The meat station had some pigs feet, cows tongue (sliced so they could open it and see the inside of the tongue), and cows stomach. Eww!
The deli had a tasting station of cheese and potato wedges. Produce department had a station where they could touch select fruits and veggies and eat some apple slices. Bakery had a station where the kids could frost and decorate their own cupcakes after their tour of the bakery and demonstration of frosting and air spray on some cupcakes.
Sadie would make a cute cafeteria lady, right?!
Mackenzie wasn't a fan of the hairnet!

Besides the cupcakes, I think the sample slice of the pizza was a huge hit too.

that's a really cool field trip. i would have loved to go on a field trip like that....even as a chaperone!
that is really a neat field trip. It's so nice that they would set all that up for the kids.

PS In response to your question on my blog: Cade can now wear 3T swim shorts but is also still wearing his 2T shorts! Funny because that is what Dylan is wearing (2T) so I have been tempted to put her Roxy bottoms on him as a speedo for kicks! :)
